Longest Night with Central United Church

Hello folks…already, we find ourselves at the Longest Night of the year. Yes, by tomorrow night, we will get an extra two minutes of daylight and I will take whatever I can get! It is called celebrating the small stuff…

After much deliberating it has been decided that we will go ahead with a hybrid model for Longest Night and Christmas Eve. So, both in person worship and you can connect by Zoom as well. The services will also be posted to Youtube to view at your leisure. We do this with careful consideration and the reality that while at a church service – masks remain on at all times, there are sanitizing stations, we insist on proof of double vaccinations and keep a record of attendance should there be an outbreak. The province has allowed the continuation of religious gatherings specifically because we have done an excellent job of zero transmission during our services – but we must remain vigilant. It is a privilege and hard work that has allowed us to carry on. Please, if you have any symptoms, do not come. Keep contact to a minimum, sanitize and keep your mask tight. Masks must be in place when you are entering the church and covering both nose and mouth.

Here is the Zoom link for the Longest Night service tonight at 7pm. A link for Christmas Eve will be sent later in the week.

→ Please note…with covid numbers rising, we need to be ever vigilant. We are asking for verification of double vaccinations when attending church building events (if you have already been to a service, this will have been recorded). Keep sanitizing • Keep your distance • Keep your mask on • Keep Kind!

Territorial Acknowledgement
Our location on the historic Carrying Place Trail (Weston Road) reminds us that we meet on the traditional territory of the Huron-Wendat, Petun, Seneca and, most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit. We hope this ancient path will be a symbol of our desire to walk with Indigenous peoples in a spirit of reconciliation and respect.
